Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As we approach the end of the semester, I want to share important information regarding the upcoming finals schedule and expectations. Finals are a critical opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and progress, and we are committed to ensuring that every student has the best possible opportunity to succeed.

Finals Schedule

  • Monday, December 16: All 7 Periods/ Finals Review

  • Tuesday, December 17: Periods 1 & 2

  • Wednesday, December 18: Periods 3 & 4

  • Thursday, December 19: Periods 5 & 6

  • Friday, December 20: Period 7 & Teacher Office hours-Make-up finals (by prior arrangement only)

Expectations for Finals

  1. Attendance: Students must be present for the entire finals period to receive full credit. No early dismissals will be permitted.

  2. Exceptions: The only exception to this policy is for verified medical or dental appointments.

  3. Verification Requirements:

    • A verified letter/ note from a doctor or dentist must be submitted to the MSHS office no later than 12:00 PM on Friday, December 20.

    • Letters/Notes submitted after this deadline will not be accepted, and the absence may impact the student’s ability to receive credit for the final.

    • Students absent for an entire finals session or a full day due to illness, will need to reschedule their final during the Friday make-up session or Tuesday 1/7/25 (if their absence is on 12/20/24).

We encourage all students to prepare thoroughly for their finals and take advantage of any review sessions or resources offered by their teachers. On Wednesday 12/11/24 all teachers will hold study sessions between 2:10 and 3:05. Monday, December 16th will be a Snack and Study in the Den for all freshmen from 1:00-3:00.  Any freshmen who would like to study with their classmates and some tutors are welcome. Parents and guardians can support their students by encouraging them to attend study sessions, helping them establish a study schedule, ensuring adequate rest, and promoting healthy habits during this important time.

Student-Athlete Expectations
At Mount Shasta High School, student-athletes are students first and athletes second. As such, student-athletes must schedule alternate final sessions ( Mon, Tues, or Wednesday between 1:00-3:00pm). All athletic practices will be scheduled after 3pm. Finals must be completed prior to attending any scheduled competition during finals week. This ensures they meet academic expectations while fulfilling their athletic commitments. Please work with your teachers in advance to make these arrangements.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding finals, please do not hesitate to contact the MSHS office at 926-2614. Thank you for your attention to these important details, and for your continued support in fostering student success.

Sincerely,
Rachel Wolmar
Principal, Mount Shasta High School
